About the Event

Meet Dusty Reed (aka The Cajun Picasso). Born and raised in Southern Louisiana, Dusty attend the University of Louisiana where he received his Master’s Degree in Interpersonal and Organizational Communication. Dusty was accepted into the American Academy of Dramatic Arts but he instead decided to pursue his art career in his home town which continues to give him inspiration.

He creates his Louisiana Folk art that reflects the vibrant culture of this region. Dusty uses a broad spectrum of visual art from paintings and sculptures to multi-dimensional installations. He creates many of his pieces from found objects and re-purposing long forgotten items you might recognize. Dusty is continuously discovering new mediums to use in his art he describes as “Colk-Art”.

Combining his Cajun Roots with his own unique and contemporary style… Colk-Art is the combination of Folk Art (art produced from an indigenous culture) with Cubism (where objects are analyzed, broken up and reassembled in an abstracted form depicting the object from a multitude of viewpoints).
