Machine Sewing 1 (Mon PM)

Service Description

This 6 week course will focus on machine sewing and include hand sewing techniques. Students will learn about the parts of the machine and safety while sewing. You will learn about different types of fabric, to read pattern symbols and to use beginner sewing techniques necessary to sew on your own. It is recommended that you have your own machine to bring to class and practice at home. If you do not have a machine, we have a limited number for student use. (Please email us at artlearningcenter@mid-cityartisans.com for machine availability.) Students must bring pin cushions, pins, seam ripper, scissors, and hem gauge. Walmart has a kit with all the above for under $10.00. Supplies and handouts for the in class practice projects are included. Students may want to purchase their own fabric for 1 project, this will be discussed at the end of the first class. Successful completion of the course, or demonstration of necessary skills will enable students to register for Machine Sewing II.
