LAUREN HYATT
Background
Lauren was born in Baton Rouge and raised in the Watson area. She is a graduate of Live Oak High School and later attended Louisiana Tech University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education. After graduating, she spent the next 12 years in Ruston, Louisiana. During that time, she has taught art to elementary students in the public school system first in Ruston and now recently in Baton Rouge after returning to South Louisiana. She enjoys her time sharing her passion of art with her students. She hopes to one day open an independent art studio of her own to teach classes to artists of all ages.
Art Passion
Lauren has pursued a variety of creative avenues on her journey as an artist. From a young age she always enjoyed creating and felt it would be something that would be a part of her life even into adulthood. She has several passions that have driven her creatively throughout the years. One of her strongest influences is her belief in Jesus Christ and the blessings and gifts He has provided for her and her family. She loves to experiment with different media to create textured crosses and scriptures on reclaimed wood and slate pieces.
Lauren also has a very strong passion for four legged creatures, especially dogs. Her work in animal welfare and rescue have driven her to create art to sell to help provide for her desire to foster and care for dogs who have been abused and neglected. She is also working to develop art pieces that will help bring awareness to the staggering and heartbreaking numbers of animals in Louisiana shelters that have been abused, neglected and/or euthanized due to over population, lack of care and spay and neuter enforcement in Louisiana. She also enjoys painting and drawing pet portraits for people’s furry family members! She has created a variety of portraits in Prisma Color pencil, acrylic paint and watercolor.
Growing up in Louisiana has also helped shape and influence Lauren’s art primarily because she loves Louisiana culture and how unique the state is. She loves to paint textured paintings of seafood, fleur-de-lis and Louisiana wildlife.
Lauren enjoys creating artwork to show and sell at various Louisiana shops. She also travels and sells her artwork in local maker’s fairs around the state. Lauren feels that God has given her the ability to create in a way that she can communicate her passions and also to help others in a variety of ways. She is always open to a new challenge and to create something she has never done before.
