This amazing artist lives with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (Brittle Bone Disease). She will talk honestly, with a Medical focus (X-Rays incl.), & provide a deeper understanding of living with OI or any disability. She will help you understand their patients more fully within their profession.

About the Event
Katherine Klimitas is a New Orleans-based artist and designer who sold her first watercolor at age 10. She earned a B.A. from Loyola University in 2011, and today runs her multifaceted business KAK ART & Designs from home. Katherine also has Brittle Bone Disease which has given her a unique perspective and love for life. Katherine is 2 feet 7 inches tall, gets around in an electric wheelchair, and creates all of her art, jewelry, and commercial graphic design while lying on her side.
Her Story/Talk
Through much trial and error, Katherine and her parents have found alternative therapies and treatments to control her pain and that allow her not to rely on heavy medications to function. Listen as she describes her day to day life, reminding us that there is more than one way to skin a cat and that every patient should be treated as an individual. Protocols are excellent guidelines but they are just that – guidelines. They are there to guide you, but a truly good doctor, physical therapist, nurse or other medical professional can think outside the box and has an open mind when it comes to patient care.
